Costume and Fashion Designer
It’s clothes that make a man. With this fervent belief, Bollywood costume and fashion designer Ashley Rebello creates clothes that are truly a work of art. Rebello has been in the industry for 15 years. His first big break came with the Aamir Khan starrer Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Since then, he has gone on to dress leading ladies and men for many blockbusters such as Sarfarosh, Chameli, Page 3 and Kambhakht Ishq. From Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Shahid Kapoor to Katrina Kaif, Aishwarya Rai and Tabu —who hasn’t he worked with? He also dressed the bridal party for actress Amrita Arora’s wedding, which included bridesmaids Malaika Arora and Kareena Kapoor. Rebello is also the ambassador of the National Institute of Fashion Design in India where he has spoken with many aspiring student-designers. He used this interaction to watch current youth trends and was inspired to design the hip clothing of the youth movie Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na starring Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza. This year, he will be dressing the cast of Dabang, featuring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, as well as Mugdha Godse’s Help. Besides designing clothes for stars, Rebello has done over a 100 advertising campaigns, over 20 television shows, innumerable fashion shows and the Miss India 2009 competition.
