M.A.C’s Light Festival is the perfect eyeshadow palette for your fall and holiday festive season!
The Festival of Light brings colourful, vibrant celebrations all over the world. M.A.C Cosmetics has joined those celebrations by releasing a limited edition Eyeshadow x 9 palette aptly called Light Festival ($42 CDN) and a decorative gift box inspired by the “flicker of flames and fireworks” seen throughout India during this time of year.

“We chose colours that signify the festive element of this holiday, but also special colours that work on the specific skin tone,” Nicole Masson, the VP of product development for M.A.C Cosmetics, told me. “We received special requests from the region for colours that pop and reflect off the skin such as a rich cranberry, jeweled emerald green, lavish gold and, of course, classic black for definition/shading.”
The eyeshadow palette features a mix of both matte and frost finishes with intense pigment. The palette includes:
Carbon – intense black (matte)
Amber Lights – peachy brown with shimmer (frost)
Cranberry – red plum with pink shimmer (frost)
Embark – intense reddish brown (matte)
Goldmine – intense gold with shimmer (frost)
Deep Truth – true dark blue (frost)
Humid – intense green with shimmer (frost)
Ricepaper – peachy gold with shimmer (frost)
Coppering – orange copper (veluxe pearl)
The Light Festival collection also includes a Fluidline Pen in Retro Black ($24 CDN), a Modern Twist Kajal Liner in Squid ($20 CDN), a 217 Blending Brush ($30 CDN) and the 239 Eye Shader Brush ($30 CDN).

Give yourself a dramatic eye look with M.A.C’s Light Festival Collection following the steps below.
-
Sweep Coppering all over the lid using a flat eyeshadow brush.
-
Use Goldmine in the inner corner of the eye, blending the colour up into the crease. Blend it out using the 239 Eye Shader Brush.
-
Lightly sweep Embark in the outer crease of your eyelid. Blend it out.
-
Lightly tap Carbon on the outer corners of your lid to add a bit more drama. Add intensity if you want a smokier look.
-
For those wanting a pop of colour, use one of the four jeweled tones in the inner corners of your lids and blend well.
-
Use Modern Twist Kajal Liner in Squid to create a thin line on the upper lid, staying close to the lash line. Repeat the process on the bottom lid along the waterline.
-
Finish the look off with mascara on both the upper and bottom lashes. I recommend Givenchy’s Phenomen’Eyes Waterproof Mascara ($37 CDN) on the upper lashes and Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Feather Noir Ultra-Skinny Lash Discovering Mascara ($30 CDN) on the bottom lashes.
