Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Returns: Does She Still Have What It Takes?
Does Aishwarya Rai Bachchan still have the power to deliver a high-grossing movie? Or is her reign in Bollywood cinema over?
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's last movie, Guzaarish, where she stars alongside Hrithik Roshan, was released in 2010. It went on to gross $6 million USD! It also earned her a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actress.
Now, five years later, Aishwarya is back to claim her throne in Bollywood. Her upcoming movie Jazbaa, an action thriller with Irrfan Khan and Shabana Azmi, is set to release on October 9, 2015. Aishwarya plays a lawyer who has to convince the court to set a convicted rapist and murderer free in return for her daughter's life — all in just four days.

Aishwarya Rai's highest-grossing Bollywood film to date was the action movie Dhoom 2 at $23 million US! But her most successful performances have been in romantic films; Jodhaa Akbar brought in a total of $17 million US and a Best Actress nomination. And who can forget Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas with Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit-Nene, which earned $15 million US? Right after is Mohabbatein — where she stars alongside Shah Rukh Khan — for $14 million US. Lastly, Mani Ratnam's Guru rounds off the top-five list of Aishwarya Rai's highest-grossing Bollywood movies at $12 million US.
