Five Inspirational Ways to Add a Personal Touch to Your Wedding.
While traditional ceremonies and events are inherent in the South Asian Wedding culture, what I love seeing are the personal ways South Asian couples are making their wedding unique and original with their own subtle touches.
Wedding Trends I’ve seen are brides moving towards more personalization vs. themes where brides are selecting unique color palettes, decor that holds personal meaning to the bride and groom or ways in which the happy couple are leaving a lasting memory with their own guests. While the events may be similar, there are many different ways in which you can personalize your wedding from the food you serve, wedding favors you leave for your guests, the gifts you provide to your loved ones, and activities you arrange for your guests.
The list goes on but let’s take a peek at some inspiration below:
1. Destination Wedding Delight
When planning destination weddings, sometimes guests become so excited with the thought of warm sunny weather that they neglect to remember that the evenings can become slightly chilly. Not only does this thoughtful couple provide gorgeous shawls, but a lovely note to accompany it.

2. Dancing the night away
One always hears two key takeaways from a fantastic wedding: the music and the food. And who doesn’t love to reminisce and listen to the fabulous music of the sangeet and wedding night. This creative couple created custom CD favours for their guests, including fun covers with photos of themselves, completely Bollywood style. Not only do guests get to remember the lovely couple via the CD cover, but they get to remember the music they danced to.

3. Shhh!! Do Not Disturb.
Being a wonderful host not only means showing your guests an excellent time, but also thinking of beyond that. In order to stay fresh for all the wedding festivities, plenty of beauty sleep and rest is paramount. This considerate couple created custom Do Not Disturb Signs for their guests.

4. Personalized Dandiya Sticks
When one attends a Gujarati wedding, there is bound to be Garba and Rass and while this is a wonderful way that guests get to mingle and meet new people, one inevitably ends up with a number of sticks to take home. What I love about this clever couple is they personalized their dandiya sticks so guests will always remember whose wedding they attended.

5. Time to say Good Bye
According to wikipedia.org, “A wedding reception is a party held after the completion of a marriage ceremony. It is held usually as hospitality for those who have attended the wedding, hence the name reception: the couple receives society, in the form of family and friends, for the first time as a married couple. Hosts provide their choice of food and drink, although a wedding cake is popular.
Entertaining guests after a wedding ceremony is traditional in most societies, and can last anywhere from half an hour to many hours or even days.” While this couple had the traditional South Asian Reception in a palace in India, they created a unique touch by having guests light lanterns to float away in the night. Not only do guests get to partake in the event itself but it’s a beautiful scene to see the sky lit up with lovely lanterns.
