Greetings From The Health And Wellness Editor!
It's Olympics Time!
Right on cue, as is the case every two years, I am addicted to the Olympics. Are you? Aren’t they just thrilling?! I am reeling from how the ladies have won 12 of the 16 medals Canada has so far. Now when someone says “you play like a girl” take it as a compliment! It’s no doubt I watch with such awe because Olympians make the sport look so easy. It is true eye-candy and I’m not just referring to the Swarovski crystal-encrusted snake collar on gold medalist Evan Lysacek’s costume!
And boy, the figure skating events have me anxiety ridden (why is it so emotional to watch a skater fall?!). The back-story for the athletes just adds a human element to it all. Just look at Joannie Rochette, she’s been trending on Twitter for days now – a brave woman to carry on with such courage given her mother’s passing just after she arrived in Vancouver for the Games. Even more remarkable was her almost perfect short program performance. I sit waiting feverishly for her free skate program tonight in hopes that she is another Canadian lady to add to the medal count. But no matter how she does, I know her mom is looking down on her proudly and that is what will make her feel like a true champion.
