Indians are very competitive — whether they're competing within their own families to see who comes out on top or much further afield, they'll go out of their way to prove their worth.
Why are Indians, arguably more than others, obsessed with breaking records? Well, within India itself is a population of over 1.25 billion, so they have a big number over other countries. India's sheer size means it can set an amazing number of records.
Below we look at 10 records broken by South Asians inside and outside of India.

June 21, 2015, was when the first International Yoga Day was held around the world. To celebrate, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi led 45,000 people in a mass yoga session on the New Delhi Boluvard at around 7:00 AM. Yoga sessions were also held in Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, China, Australia and the United Kingdom.
3. Rohan Ajit Kokane Limbos Under Poles.

Rohan Ajit Kokane is an 11-year-old boy who broke a world record for stretching out his limbs on roller blades in Mumbai and also broke the world record for skating the longest distance under cars at 126 feet and 1 inch. He then went ahead and broke another record by skating under poles raised a mere 6.75 inches above the ground. The photo may seem as if he's touching the floor, but he's actually just millimeters away from the ground.

5. 18 Million Bank Accounts Opened In One Week.

In his Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that he wanted to make banking in India accessible all throughout the nation. The Indian government made history when a whopping 18,096,130 bank accounts opened in a single week. The aim was for 75,000 underprivileged households to open accounts by January 26, 2015, but this goal later increased to 100,000.

An Indian man has set the world record for typing with his nose. Mohammed Khurshid Hussain practiced for six hours a day and already holds the record for typing the English alphabet in record time. The record was previously set in Dubai by an Indian man who typed out "Guinness World Records has challenged me to type this sentence using my nose in the fastest time." It took him months of training, but Mohammed managed to break the record, writing 103 characters in 47 seconds.

8. Biggest Gathering Of Gandhi Look-a-likes

Underprivileged children dressed as the late Mahatma Gandhi gathered in Kolkata, India, to attempt to break the world record for the most Gandhi lookalikes. There was a total of 485 children and the event took place on the January 29, 2012 — the day before the date of Gandhi's death on January 30.
