Is Rani Mukerji Pregnant?
Rani Mukerji has always been known to guard her personal life. Even her marriage to Aditya Chopra was a well-kept secret. Rumour mills have been abuzz that Rani is pregnant with her first child. Recently, in an interview, Rani said that she wants to “expect soon.”
It was only last year that Bollywood actress Rani Mukherji had a hush-hush wedding in Italy with her long-term boyfriend, Yash Raj Film's Aditya Chopra, son of the veteran director Yash Chopra. Now there have been reports that the actress and her film director husband are expecting their first child together.
After such a secret wedding, Rani was recently spotted in London at the Four Seasons having a pre-natal massage, which sparked rumours of her pregnancy. Pre-natal massages can relieve back pain and improve sleep and mood as well as decrease stress and reduce labour complications. This is another huge life adjustment that Rani failed to share with her fans and was then unavailable to make any comments about.
Rani was last seen in the 2014 film Mardaani and was supposed to be playing a role in a biopic, but it has been confirmed that Sonakshi Sinha will now be playing that role. Did Rani opt out of this picture, knowing she was pregnant?
But why are Bollywood actresses feeling the need to hide their pregnancies? Vidya Balan is an actress who knows how this feels. She was ousted by Sujoy Ghosh, who opted to replace her with Kangana after rumours emerged that Vidya may be pregnant. What made matters worse was that Vidya was actually one of his favourite actresses and was in fact not pregnant at the time.
Is this why Bollywood actresses feel the need to hide their joyous news from the world? A pregnancy clause has now also been added to Bollywood contracts.
Hiding pregnancies is not unknown in the celebrity world. In fact, Angelina Jolie managed to hide her pregnancy from the world until Jack Black accidentally told everyone she was expecting twins when interviewing her at Cannes.
One of Hollywood’s power couples, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, also managed to keep the paparazzi at bay and hide their pregnancy not only from the shutterbugs but also from Jen's co-stars while she was on set. And anyone who’s been pregnant knows that’s no easy feat. “[I] feel like half my brain is somewhere else all the time,” Garner admitted, but, ever the professional, she explained, “When the camera’s rolling, I pull it together and focus for two minutes, and then I kind of turn back to a ditz again.”
Whether Rani is pregnant or not only time will tell. But as of now, we'd like to know how you feel about celebs hiding pregnancies. Do you think they hide it or embrace it? Do they owe us an explanation?
