Here are some of my favourite tips and tricks for keeping your skin healthy and glowing during the Winter season.
Skin tends to get really dry during the winter season and the perfect way to maintain your skin is to moisturize and exfoliate; this will keep your skin soft and supple. The best way to accomplish this is by using body scrubs. In addition to the positive benefits that scrubs can have on your, they also do wonders for the mind and body. For example, the smell of citrus is energizing, whereas vanilla and lavender are calming.
Here are some of my 4 top favourite scrubs.
Bath & Bodyworks’ Aromatherapy Sugar Scrub

This amazing scrub is infused with eucalyptus and spearmint. Perfect for those mornings where you could use an energy boost. Some of the benefits of this particular scrubs in the way in which it leaves your skin looking a little shimmery and it also adds a glow. It is extremely moisturizing yet gritty enough to take the dead skin away.
Tree Hut Body Shea Sugar Scrub

This certified organic scrub is paraben as well as DMDM-free. It is very affordable, yet feels like a luxurious item. It comes in a variety of smells as well. Without a doubt, Brazilian Nut is my personal favourite.
Soap and Glory Flake Away Body Scrub

Sea salt, peach seed powder, and sugar are used to buff away dead skin and flakes. Infused with grape seed and almond oils for moisturizing, this scrub is perfect to prevent those dreaded in-grown hairs and helps with blemishes as well. I love the smell.
Make Your Own!
I did this as a gift idea once and the results were exceptional. You can use salt or sugar (just make sure the granules are small enough so they won’t tear the skin). Salt is great for in-grown hair prone skin, while sugar is great for more sensitive skin. An organic brown sugar also works well.
You can use any oil you like, baby oil, coconut oil (my favourite), olive oil, vegetable oil, and even sunflower. Mix two parts salt/sugar to 1 part oil. You can find great little jars at the dollar store as well. Mix well (don’t worry if the mixture separates) this is totally normal, just mix the next time you use. Add 5 drops of your favourite essential oil and enjoy! If you’re giving it away as a gift, you can personalize it with a label and ribbon. There is so much you can do. Enjoy.
I hope you have enjoyed these tips and I will be sure to come out with more.
