I am very happy to announce three additions to the celebrity roster for our 12th Anniversary Event: musical artist Manj Musik, ‘Breakaway’ and ‘Dr. Cabbie’ actor Vinay Virmani, and stand-up comedian Danish Anwar.
The legendary bhangra artist Manj Musik – former band member of RDB – is now a successful solo arist giving us Bollywood hit singles such as ‘Singh is King’, ‘Rafta Rafta’ & ‘Desi Hip-Hop’, to name a few. Along with more than 10 Bollywood hits and 25 independently released solo albums, Manj has collaborated with mainstream artists such as Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, T-Pain and Elephant Man.
Writer and star of the Canadian comedy hit ‘Breakaway’, Vinay Virmani has worked with big names such as Anupam Kher, Rob Lowe, Sakina Jaffrey and Russell Peters. Vinay has since then starred in the critically acclaimed Hindi film ‘David’, and the Salman Khan-produced dramedy ‘Dr. Cabbie’, also starring funny man Kunal Nayyar and appearances by notable personalities.
Likely the world’s first and only Soviet-Born-Indian-Bengali-Canadian-Comic, Danish Anwar is the founder of the wildly popular comedy label “Toronto Comedy All Stars”. The stand-up comic’s material is often described as “smart”, “political” & “really, really funny”, sometimes without air quotes. His notable accomplishments include: being one of only 7 Canadians invited(to an event of 101 stand-up comedians) to the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas (2013), creating “Your Hood’s A Joke” – a radical comedy show that features every month at Comedy Bar(Toronto), becoming a finalist in 2011 edition of the Toronto Comedy Brawl, and becoming JFL42’s Funniest Torontonian finalist.
ANOKHI MEDIA is very excited and honored to have these highly accomplished South Asians attend its 12th Anniversary Event. Taking place at the historical Fairmont Royal York Hotel located in downtown Toronto on Saturday, March 28, 2015, the anniversary show celebrates some of the world’s most renowned names in entertainment, fashion, media and lifestyle.
The evening will begin with a red carpet celebrity reception with all of the celebrity attendees and hosts. Following that, a 3-course dinner, an awards ceremony, an exclusive industry after party and an exclusive unveiling of the commemorative coffee table book will take place. Over 800 guests will be attending the glamorous event.
