BBC Sherlock Star Mark Gatiss Attends Mumbai Film and Comics Convention 2014

Mark Gatiss, Actor And Co-Creator Of Sherlock, Attended MFCC 2014

Comic Con India hosted Mark Gatiss this year, who stars in and is the co-creator and executive producer of BBC’s Sherlock, at the Mumbai Film and Comics Convention. He attended the show as a special guest during the convention at the Bombay Exhibition Centre from December 19 to 21, 2014.

Gatiss says, “Stage Two of World Domination complete! I’m thrilled to be coming to India, a country I’ve always wanted to visit, and I can’t wait to meet all the Doctor Who and Sherlock fans in Mumbai.”

Jatin Varma, founder of Comic Con India, adds, “We at Comic Con India are extremely thrilled to host Mark Gatiss at Mumbai Film & Comic Con 2014! For me personally, its a true fan boy moment! We all have been great fans of his work and we can't wait for him to reach Mumbai and meet all his Indian fans!”

Mark was present throughout the three days of the convention. A special screening of An Adventure in Space and Time had been organised to mark the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. A special panel and fan session was scheduled where fans got to interact with him. Mark is pictured here in an autograph session that was held everyday for a limited number of people.

Mayank Shekhar, popular film critic, played host to the panel discussion with Mark, asking him about Sherlock, Doctor Who and about his new role in Game of Thrones. A few anecdotes were also shared and he was firm on Benedict Cumberbatch being the first and only choice for the role of Sherlock. News of Tom Hiddleston starring in the fourth season was denied, and he explained how the rumours had developed.

Gatiss is an actor, comedian, a screen writer and even a novelist. His résumé includes The League of Gentleman. His popular TV series Doctor Who and Sherlock have both received a cult fan following. His fans at the Mumbai Film and Comics Convention are definitely in for a treat! Sherlock, which also stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, has seen success around the world, especially because series 3 in the UK was rated the most-watched drama on British Television. It won seven Emmys in 2014.

Comic Con India is for fans, exhibitors and partners who want to celebrate their passion and love for comics and popular culture.
