Make sure every photo you take of yourself is a good one with these simple tips.
We all know we can make any picture look good with Instagram filters or Photoshop, but there’s always room for improvement right? You don’t need a fancy camera to look fancy, but you do need some basic tips to pose and look pretty in every shot. Here’s what you need to know for picture-perfect selfies and stunning pics you’ll be proud to flaunt online.
Practise Your Look
Your friends may look gorgeous making a duck face, blowing a kiss, or always taking a tilted angle picture, but that doesn’t mean that works for you as well. Always know what your best angles are: examine old pictures and see what you were doing right or differently in your favourite shots. Once you know what works for you, spend some extra time posing in front of the mirror so the position comes naturally to you in an instant once you hear the camera click.
Stay True To Yourself
We take pictures to flaunt our stuff on social media, but also to be able to look back and remember how we felt in those given moments. Although a pose and a big grin will always work for instant attention, it’s best to express what you truly felt in that moment. Keep your pictures, even those you may not want to share with the world, because you’ll look back one day and be glad you captured a natural moment and your true feelings.
Be Confident
This is a given, but confidence always shines through – even in pictures. Don’t be afraid to be yourself, let go of any insecurity and be confident in how you look. Epic photos are a result of taking risks and being unique. Let all your flaws be shown and you’ll look and feel better.
Check Your Lighting
Lighting is the most important factor in photography. Great light looks better than any filter. Pretty outdoor sunlight is always best, and remember to face in the direction of the light, not stand against it, which will make your picture dark. When your face is pointed towards light it gives your skin an even effect and hides under-eye bags and shadows. Standing right under a light source causes an uneven effect, also resulting in dark pictures.
Apply Natural Makeup
Lightly highlighting and contouring the right areas results in flawless pictures. Elaina Badro, a celebrity makeup artist, suggests that for dryer skin, a cream highlight is the best choice for the cheekbones and nose. She also recommends blending primer and foundation on your neck to make your foundation appear smoother.
