Super Bowl XLVIII: Seahawks, Bruno Mars & Puppy Love

No sweat (pun intended) if you missed the Super Bowl this year.
With the Washington D.C. Color Guard and world-class opera soprano star, Renee Fleming opening with the national anthem, and Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers putting on a rocking performance, plus don’t forget NFL fans’ favourite, Peyton Manning and a great round of commercials, it was better than ever. Incidentally, the football game was good too (just joking!). Here’s the down-low to keep you in the know:

The game was a landslide victory for Seattle Seahawks, beating Denver Broncos 43 to 8, at New Jersey’s Metlife Stadium.
Rene Flemming was an interesting choice, but the twitter-verse seems pretty happy that the US decided to mix its high-brow and pop culture together this time.

Of course you might have been too busy watching the puppy bowl, or the kitty bowl, but even the Internet obsession with puppy noses and keyboard cat’s rendition of 'Locked Out of Heaven' could surpass recent Grammy winner for Best Pop Vocals, Bruno Mars’s Trap style and sultry tones during the annual Half-time Show. He drummed. He danced. He crooned. Mars rocked out with Red Hot Chili Peppers, wooing America while the Seattle Seahawks vs. Denver Broncos were 22-0 and poised for what would become Seattle’s first Super Bowl win ever.

The set-list included Mars’s hits 'Locked Out of Heaven', 'Treasure', and 'Runaway Baby' followed by Red Hot Chili Peppers’s 'Give It Away Now,' but unlike years past, Mars ended the high-energy show on a more romantic note, singing his first radio hit, 'Just the Way You are' not in tribute to love, but in tribute and gratitude to the US Armed Forces, and all the men and women who were serving abroad.
As for television-watching fun, the commercial highlights included the Sienfeld reunion, Radioshack’s 1980’s revenge (of the nerds) and Coca Cola’s multilingual, 'America the Beautiful' celebrating the diversity of the U.S. of A. However, if there was to be a winning commercial, it would probably be Budweiser’s Puppy Love, where even if you missed the Puppy Bowl in favor of the real game, you learned that even if it’s all Seahawks versus Broncos, puppies always win.
