Some parents think that just having that newborn clean-baby scent means that their child must be getting the best skincare but how do you know if you're really keeping your child’s skin clean and protected against baby acne, rashes, dry skin, eczema or other dermal issues?
Manhattan based Dr. Vicki Papadeas and consultant for Thebump.com explains that dry skin and flaking, as well as baby acne that newborns experience is perfectly normal.

“At birth, your baby's skin will appear to be dry. In fact, it's in the process of peeling off an entire waterproof layer of sorts. Skin starts out very translucent, so you'll be able to see lots of birthmarks," she says.
She goes on to explain, “around month one, you may see baby acne on the face or neck. This is very similar to teenage acne, but won't leave scars. Acne is a response to changing hormones, and a normal skin transition. All you need to do is gently wash [your baby’s] face once a day with a mild cleanser. It's also fine to use a moisturizer if [your baby’s] face seems dry. And don’t worry — baby acne doesn't predict more skin problems once he/she is a teen!” You’ll have to wait until month four, but by then your child should have soft, supple skin.
For parents with more than one child, how do you take care of all the possible skin issues without spending an arm and a leg on products?
