Check out our favourite restaurants where you can fête her just right!
The age-old dilemma of what to get your mom for Mother's Day, and where to take her has already begun. Mother's Day is a day all about showing your love and appreciation for your mom, as well as giving her an amazing meal that she doesn't actually have to cook herself. While we all love the traditional, homemade breakfast in bed, taking mom out for a great brunch makes her feel extra special and loved. From casual to classy, here are the top five places in the Toronto area to treat your mom at for a Mother's Day brunch.
1) Mariposa Cruises' Mother's Day Brunch Cruise, $50+
207 Queens Quay West, Toronto
www.mariposacruises.com
Brunch on a boat cruise will be a unique and fun way to show your mom some appreciation. Along with scenic views of the lake and the Toronto skyline, the two-hour cruise includes pastries, pasta, and a waffle station. The best part, though, is that your mom will also be treated to complimentary spa services like massages and manicures. If you want to aboard the Captain Matthew Flinders for this waterside adventure, you can purchase your tickets on the cruise website.
2) Casa Loma, $55+
1 Austin Terrace, Toronto
www.casaloma.org
Your mom will feel like a queen at the annual brunch at Toronto's very own castle and historic landmark. The elegant meal is served in the library, and can be followed by a quick tour of the gothic-revival-style house. The menu, available on their website, offers a variety of delicacies, including scones, omelettes, waffles and even salmon. The royal brunch has four seating times and requires advanced bookings.
3) Kortight Centre, $40+
9550 Pine Valley Drive, Woodbridge
www.kortright.org
If your mom is a nature lover, she will adore a nice outdoor meal and spring-time stroll at the Kortright Centre for Conservation, just 10 minutes outside the city. The two-hour brunch buffet offers a baker basket, salad bar, waffle station, an eggs and ham station and, of course, a dessert station. The half-hour nature walk includes scenery and wildlife of forests and meadows from special lookout points. The event requires advanced bookings, so make sure you make yours on their website.
4) Globe Bistro, $30+
124 Danforth Avenue, Toronto
www.globebistro.com
The Globe Bistro is offering a fixed-price brunch menu for Mother's Day, including scones and coffee, a choice of an appetizer, a main course and dessert. Tomato and dill soup, pan-seared rainbow trout, multigrain risotto and red-fife crepes are just some of the options. The Danforth location has three floors and a rooftop patio that your mom will very much enjoy. A popular Sunday brunch spot from 11am – 2pm, make sure you call ahead and reserve your table if you're interested.
5) The Gibson House Museum, $30+
5172 Yonge Street, North York
http://www.toronto.ca/culture/museums/featured-events
The Gibson House Museum is hosting Mother's Day Tea in Mrs. Gibson's parlour. The staff will be in 19-century costumes, serving tea, finger sandwiches and sweets. Your mom will no doubt enjoy being treated to this elegant tea in a different era. After brunch, you and your mom can step back in time and enjoy a serene afternoon exploring the Georgian-style farmhouse and reliving some of the family drama. The Gibson House is one of the ten historic Toronto culture museums, and the tea requires pre-registration.
