64% Cheat While In The Same Room As Their Spouse
Cheating has always been inexcusable with the matter of infidelity being a common phenomenon since ancient times, leading to insecurity and mistrust between a couple.??
Victoria Milan – a dating website for married and attached people – has brought cheating to another level with the promise of providing discreet affairs. After surveying 11,050 of its cheating members, shocking insights into infidelity through mobile technology reveal users are taking more risks and are unafraid of getting caught.??
· 84% of people use smartphones or tablets to cheat on their spouse
?· 64% will cheat using mobile devices?
· Only 12% are afraid of getting caught??
Other revelations include the 23% of users who sext while home with their spouse, or even in the same room. Only 13% claim they do not communicate with lovers when their partner is around.??
These statistics are alarming and raise a moral question about the ways in which technology becomes a device that can cause eventual breakups and divorce, if caught.
The founder and CEO of Victoria Milan said in a statement, “We know at Victoria Milan that often affairs remain a digital fantasy – a cheeky online flirt is enough to satisfy people.
Moving this from the desktop computer to mobile devices means our members can text from the office, the car, or as we’ve revealed – from the same room as their partner, and still keep their affair a secret.”??The anonymity associated with electronic communication allows users to feel more open and frank in talking with other users.
??Dating and relationships outside of marriage within the South Asian community has become more prominent in today's generation, a norm that allows websites such as Victoria Milan and others to offer a slew of services other than the traditional counseling and therapy when things turn sour, especially when it comes to relationship troubles that threaten adultery. When it comes to cheating, this is not a culture-specific phenomenon but a social one noted in all cultures.??
Dr. Sauni S. Ahmad, a psychologist, who has been working on the South Asian Couple Therapy Project with Dr. David Reid at the York University in Toronto foucuses on people from all over South Asia including India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. ??Couples therapy for the South Asian population in Canada has been fruitful and has improved the quality of the relationships of couples involved in the study. Ahmad’s study underlined that South Asian couples need the most guidance when handling the conflict with their in-laws in their extended family as a primary cause of conflict. Cheating was a major part of the dialogue in this study. ??
Technology in the 21st century has revolutionized the way in which relationships take place today. The question is do you think its for the better or worse?
