50 Cent Files For Bankruptcy
Infamous American music sensation and rapper 50 Cent files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Looks like flaunting all that cash in those Instagram selfies and reminding the world how rich he was had the opposite effect of what was intended. Rapper 50 Cent, also a businessman and actor, is reportedly in debt ranging from $10 million to $50 million. Looks like all he will have left in his pocket are the 50 cents the world has come to know him for.
The music star, best known for hit album Get Rich or Die Tryin', filed for bankruptcy days after a jury decided he must pay $5 million to a woman suing over a sex tape released in 2009.
Celebrity gossip website TMZ reported that the performer was being sued for a sex video the woman made with her boyfriend to which the rapper added his own commentary, releasing the video online without the permission of the parties involved.
Despite his current financial woes, the rapper's cultural and musical commodities are quite vast. 50 Cent has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, is a Grammy Award winner and has quite the diverse professional portfolio, which includes acting. His most recent film, Southpaw, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams, is due to hit the box office next week. Let's hope it gives the performer a pay cheque big enough to get him out of this mess.
50 Cent's lawyers filed the bankruptcy papers in court under his real name, Curtis James Jackson III, just days after his 40th birthday.
